Umashree Won Best Actress Award for Gulabi Talkies at 55th National Film Awards. Gulabi Talkies is kannad film and she was in lead role.
Her role as a Muslim midwife in the film has earned her much appreciation. She also received Karnataka State award for Best Actress for the year 2008 for the same film.
